Meet December’s Registry Rock Star: Talisha

Cancer Registry Fact: Cancer registries help answer important questions such as “How do we know what causes cancer?” or “Who is most likely to get cancer and why?”

This month’s Registry Rock Star is Talisha, a cancer information specialist for CHAMPS Oncology.

Talisha has been working in the cancer registry profession for 13 years. Becoming a cancer registrar was an opportunity to learn something new for her, especially since the medical field is always changing. Talisha worked in medical transcription for seven years prior to becoming a registrar. She decided to become one after learning how the information collected from registrars helps researchers and physicians make a difference in the care of cancer patients.

  • During her free time, Talisha shuttles her daughter back and forth to ice skating lessons and competitions. During her remaining time, she loves to read.
  • Her hometown is Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
