As we all know in the oncology industry, March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and during this month there is a focus on education and screenings for colorectal cancers.

Preventing Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in both men and women, but with regular colonoscopy screenings this disease is highly preventable and also highly treatable when detected in the very early stages. As many of you know – either first hand or through the stories of others – the prep for this test is the worst part, but the results are worth it. Most people don't realize, 60 percent of deaths that occur due to colorectal cancer could have been prevented through regular screenings.

Sharing the Colorectal Cancer Prevention Message

To help spread this message, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) is sharing the image featured above on social media and encouraging others to do the same. Let’s help them get the word out on Facebook and Twitter by making this image go viral before the end of the month!

And don’t stop spreading the message via word of mouth. Please encourage everyone you know who has a family history of colorectal cancer, and those over age 50 to schedule a colonoscopy this month. Together we can help #preventcoloncancer!
